For Enrollment Fall 2008

The Chequamegon Bay Arts Council is pleased to announce the availability of college scholarships.  The purpose of these scholarships is to acknowledge the past accomplishment and future promise of high school graduates who will enter a field of study leading to a career in the arts.

Eligibility- Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
     1. Be a high school senior graduating in spring 2008.
     2. Reside and attend school in Ashland or Bayfield County
     3. Plan to enroll in a higher education course of study leading to a career in visual or performing arts.
         (We do not include literary arts at this time.)
    
4. Submit all materials described in the application form.

Amount and Terms of Acceptance- Although subject to change based on the quality and quantity of applications, the Chequamegon Bay Arts Council intends to award a scholarship to one student in each Ashland and Bayfield County high school.  Each scholarship will have a value of $500 and will be disbursed as a personal check once proof of enrollment is provided.

Due Date for Applications- Applications must be mailed to the address below, received by April 7, 2008, and include the following components:
     Cover Sheet:   Attached and/or available at www.cbayarts.org
     References:    At least two letters from selected teachers.
     Attachment A One sheet describing past experience.
     Attachment B One sheet answering questions.
     Attachment C Portfolio as described below

Visual Artists - Attach at least 8 and no more than 15 works of art produced solely by the applicant. Format may be photographs, slides, digital images on CD in Macintosh compatible format, or originals if in a size and format that is easy to transport and handle.

Performing Artists – A one-page detailed description of your approach to a performance, your preparation to perform, and how that preparation informs what you actually do onstage. Option: This may be supplemented with a CD or DVD that includes your work, stills, or other materials that represent your work.

Announcement Date:
Recipients will be notified by May 1, 2008.  CBAC will contact high schools to present the award at pre-graduation award ceremonies.
